Dangerous crabs, artic polar bears, and smashers!  Oh my!

That was probably one of the worst openings I have ever come up with, but anyways, Abe's Amazing Adventure reminds me of a lot of the old dos games, but unlike Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers for Dos, this game is quite fun!

Storyline
Abe's friend has been missing for many years, but finally he decides to search for him in the great pyramids.

Short and simple;-)  It just makes you wonder why Abe's friend was in the great pyramids in the first place...

Game Play
When you first start the game, you will realize you don't have any fancy guns or shields and that your character is just like any other guy, but with a taste for adventure (however, by pressing the enter key, you can use a balloon and fly around :-).  You can move right and left with your arrow keys, and you can jump by pressing your space bar.  Now, don't stop reading this review just yet!  The game has some very interesting characters (one keeps reminding me of the little green guy in Monsters Inc.), and is something you can just keep playing without having to think to much, because it doesn't involve too much strategy.  Some people like strategy games (EXAMPLE: me), but a lot of people don't.  Plus, some of us need to give our minds a break every once in a while;-)

The Graphics
The graphics are good, but not the best.  Your character looks like a Lego person, and some of the characters don't look that detailed.  However, the graphics are a lot better than some of the other free games I have seen.  Additionally, if a game is fun, why do you need excellent graphics in the first place?

The Sound
The music in my opinion is very good.  It has a catchy tune, and is pleasant to listen to.  As for the sound effects, they are bad.  Most of the sound effects sound very unrealistic and fake.  However, they don't really hurt the game, but make it a little more cartoony (and that isn't really a bad thing).

Problems/Dislikes
I noticed a couple of little "glitches" while playing the game.  First of all, the sound sometimes sounded distorted, but it went back to normal in a few seconds.  The other thing was, if you minimize the game and then go back to it, it will look like a TV channel with no signal.  However, not many people will minimize the game, so the second problem isn't really a big deal (the only reason I minimized the game was so I could take screenshots).

At first it looked like it wouldn't save when I got to a save spot and then exited the game, but I then realized that I should have used the exit command in the program, instead of pressing the escape key.  NOTE ABOUT SAVING:  You will see green stars scattered throughout the game, and those are where you can save.  The only bad thing about this, is that you can't save anywhere in the game.

In conclusion, this is a game that a lot of people would like and is worth a look....By the way, since this game doesn't have to be installed, you can play it without having to get admin rights on Windows XP;-)

Fun Stuff

If you get really bored playing the game, you can press and hold the left and right arrow keys at the same time and make Abe "dance";-)
